VACANCY STATUS:

Responsibilities and Duties
•Read and interpret drawings.
•Manufacturing of maintenance spares for the sawmilling industry
•Turning and machining of various components including multistart, buttress, square, acme, metric and imperial threads
•Identifying different types of threads and their use in the industry
•Machining to standard tolerances
•Identifying of different types of bearings their application and the fitting of such bearings
•Knowledge of inline, radicon and crofts gearboxes, the assembly and repair thereof
•Fitting of keys, bushes, pins, gears, sprockets and alignment of various types of couplings including tyre couplings, spider couplings, gear couplings, flange couplings, etc.
•Do maintenance checklists.
•Assist with maintenance planning.
•Identify problematic machinery and inform management thereof.
•Always maintain a safe working environment
•After repairing machinery in conjunction with production personnel, ensure that the machine is working according to the required standard.
•Be able to troubleshoot and do fault finding.
•Do basic boiler making and welding, including the building of small structures.
•Must be prepared to travel and work at different mills including the stayover as and when required.
Qualifications and Skills
•Matric / Grade 12 or N3
•Qualified red seal artisan
•Superb machining skills
•At least 3 years’ experience in an industrial environment
•Knowledge of the repair and manufacturing of sawmilling and mining timber production machinery spares
•Basic knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
•Decision making abilities.
•Ability to take initiative.
•Computer literate (Word and Excel)
•Strong organizational skills
•Strong communication skills
•Basic boiler making and welding skills.
•Prepared to work overtime and standby duties when required.
•Prepared to do training courses to improve skills.
•Good fitting skills
•Valid driver’s license
•Full set of tools as required by Bedrock mining Timber.
